As of this writing, Christmas is a week and a half out. Does it make sense to think about SEO for Christmas at this point?
On the one hand, not really. We expect changes in Google rankings to show up in a couple of weeks. If you depend on e-commerce, you’ll have been working on that for weeks or months, as the infographic below shows.
But there are still some things you can do at this point:
- Send emails to people who’ve already ordered (there was probably at least one more item they’d like to have).
- Send emails with coupon codes to those who’ve left something in their carts.
- Offer discounts on items you have overstocked — avoid those final after-Christmas markdowns if you can. Use email and social media to get the word out.
- Invite local customers to last-minute events with social media and email.
