Greenery: Pantone Color of the Year 2017

The Color of the Year for 2017 has been announced by global color mavens Pantone. It’s Greenery, hex code #88B04B.

Pantone chooses a color each year. Some of the recent picks:

This year, Pantone offers a clear explanation for their choice:

Bright green is a fairly popular color accent choice for websites focusing on sustainability, natural ingredients, and health. We’ve used it as an accent at that type of website, but in browsing through the sites we’ve worked on, I found that we’ve never used it as a major color in a design. Our green sites tend toward sage rather than 2017’s bright leaf green.

We’ve written for some websites with bright green accents, but none has really gone all the way to green.

Even this super exuberant green example — not a website that we worked on — is no longer online.

We’ll be watching for more green in 2017.

I have a website that supports recycling used furniture, so you could say it’s focused on sustainability. I loving idea of using Bright green on it.
